Problemsolving I

January 7, 2010

I’m often baffled and always inspired by the creativity and ingenuity people with limited means regularly show when faced with challenges in daily life – a favourite category is the various ways people carry and transport heavy or big loads; here are some everyday heroes I encountered in China a few years ago.

How to transport about a tonne of fruit on a normal bike (these guys are just getting off the ferry in Shanghai)

More fruit

Just back from the shops with a new telly

Three (or is that four?) TVs

And lanterns anyone?! Maybe not that heavy each one, but try carrying 2 or 300

That puts me to absolute shame. I often make the excuse that I “need” to take the car instead of riding my bicycle because I have too many things to carry — like d’oh — a couple of books or a large-ish piece of cardboard. I’m going to go and pump up the tyres now!

BY THE WAY — I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!! :)
